glass scratched blue
breaks the silence of
unread lines on a blank page.....
my mind turns a corner....
and there is the road I was
looking for....I have no ideawhere it will take me...
do I care? I ask Myself. unable to get
a straight answer I go on alone..
leaving you standing holding
glass half empty..

ReplyDeleteleaving you standing holding
ReplyDeleteglass half empty..wow, that one line says so much. I REALLY like this a lot!
lots of questions in life..still searching for answer ..you are right..life is an unsolved puzzle
ReplyDelete"Do I care?" That says so much to me.
ReplyDeleteWow, this says a lot more than it is saying :)
ReplyDeleteWell done!
curious...you capitalized Myself
ReplyDeletesays a lot if intentional
and everything in a poem is intentional isn't it
called craft
wonderful
Reminds me very much of a lisa Zaran poem, the name of which escapes me just now. Evokes a similiar response in me.
ReplyDeleteoh, holding the glass half empty...tight close...too many miss the close but you nailed it...
ReplyDeletethank you all....I was wondering how many got the meaning behind the piece...the first line came to me about two weeks ago when we were driving....bkm
ReplyDeleteI notice you labeled your poem as Random and if so, the unexpected spawn of one's Muse often invokes the strongest writing; at least that is my experience. To tread the path of chance without reservation. Such eloquence in a single piece.
ReplyDeleteAm expecting you to get a glass half full at the end of your little trip hopefully the one left behind gets it and follows you or you find another... either way you're done...lovely bkm.
ReplyDeleteSorry that is not it....I should have asked everyone to give there take on it...bkm
ReplyDeleteI hope they catch up! Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDelete"creating a palette of mood" Ooooh so romantic. I actually have a Queen Anne vanity it became mine when my mother passed so I could envision it throughout the poem!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the touch of cynicism that accents the beauty of your words-- nicely done!
ReplyDeleteadventurous poem,
ReplyDeletethe ending leaves readers lingering...
well captured uncertainty of life.
Sometimes it's hard to leave someone behind, other times we need to run. I enjoyed your writing. :))
ReplyDeleteCertainly does bring us a surprise or two as we travel down the road. This is a great poem.
ReplyDeleteI like this poem very much... "my mind turns a corner..." and finding the looked-for road and following on the instant - love the sentiment expressed and the expression itself.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the read...thanks for linking with Potluck!! Have a great week ahead my friend xx
ReplyDeleteAmazingly written, glad to have you in for Poetry Potluck =P
ReplyDeletewohoho! NICE..
ReplyDeleteThese lines are especially poignant to me:
ReplyDelete>>> unread lines on a blank page.....
>>> my mind turns a corner....
My Monday Poetry Potluck: Fibonacci.
This made me think of creative ideas abandoned and new ones explored...
ReplyDeleteI loved the flow...
Leaving the half-empty glass. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis is a satisfying poem! Loaded with tension, and yet ... it concludes triumphantly for the narrator. So well done. Wow!
ReplyDeletesometimes, the half empty glass just needs to be left!
ReplyDeleteMy Potluck Poem
