so why would i
sign up for dancing?
this shoreline
did not take lessons
there is talk of rain
in a forecast of Sundays,
a moon rounder
then normal
i am full
of, full of
the moisture that
befalls a Sunday of forecasting
full of a roundness
that is not the
curved side of you
lessons are for children
and lost starfish
we are lovers,
collectors (you and i)
of shells and dance cards
empty

as long as you are sharing the dance card with them, no need for any other name on it...we are lovers and collectors of shells...nice....i like the i am full stanza as well...
ReplyDeleteLovely. Oh, that third stanza...
ReplyDeleteThank you.
I like that idea of a couple creating in love a shared love for empty dance cards.
ReplyDeleteBarbara,
ReplyDeleteThere is a real delicacy in your words which allude to perhaps happier times. Times when the age and the mood were both ready to dance.
Very contemplative....

Dear Barbara,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been here for a while. Read your last three to four poems. How can there be beauty? It is for us to recover. Do take care.
