it had to be us....


you asked me to capture
the moments of our loving
you desired something tangible
to carry with you without edit or digital content
you professed  that
you would pin it to your heart
you would wear it as a name tag for love
it would have to define all the details of our soft nights, soft lights
our mused moments, touch...

it had to be the Leica
it had to be the darkroom
it had to be us

    bkm, this poem would sound excellent read aloud, especially the passage i quote. Seems an almost breathless section with composure regained by touch.

    Tall order, eh ... And the trio of oldschool elements -- "Leica" (spelling?), "darkroom" (which serves lovers and artists), "us" -- the only way to burn an image indelibly, unless, of course, you write a poem instead, which you did. Loved it. - Brendan (p.s., did you mean "digital" in the fourth line?)

    Oh, wow! This is a stunning love poem, bkm! And its cadence flows in a way that leaves me breathless. I agree, it would be great read aloud. I love love love the ending! So romantic!

    This one had not only gentleness, but that sense of 'need' that lovers have when they really don't want to part. Even a two-dimensional image is better than not touching.
