Vanity Fair
she was vain and knew it
and did not give a care
let the pious call me vain - let the young men stare
let the old men - pray for youth
the homely wish to be -
as beautiful and gracious
as one the likes of me --
give me any poison, praying for
my fall, exorcism or apple - i've been faced
with one and all --- i will take what
you will give me - but in the end you'll see
when the beauty has to face the beast
- the beauty wins --and that beauty would be ... me..

ReplyDeleteOh, this is great. I was hoping someone would recognize the Vanity Fair and work it into their piece. Yay!
ReplyDeleteThat was good, and let it be you! Thanks for your comment.
ReplyDelete"give me any poison, praying for
ReplyDeletemy fall, exorcism (presuming to edit) or apple" Do we have Snow White here? I don't remember the vanity. But after the triumph, why not a bit of gloating!?

ReplyDeleteHoly Crappoly. Let the young men do and the old men remember.....loved it.

ReplyDeleteThe poem has taken on an attitude of its own, LOL! But the attitude can be necessary in some cases. Wonderful magpie! =)
