Battle of the Buttes - Flash 55

I lay on my living room floor
Next to laughter
And listen as the war is being fought
Two blocks away – the canons rage on
Man against boy, Yankee against Confederate
Women crying and tending to the wounded
Southern sympathizers built this town
Descendants are still awaiting Lincoln’s Impeachment
The battle will last the weekend

  1. Next to laughter: That's good!

They will be fighting that war long after there IS no war. At least nobody gets hurt now--or DO they?

    PEACE! --grin!

  3. This is so good. It is amazing how the battle "against Northern aggression" continues to rage. At least no one gets hurt in this particular iteration. Sadly, elsewhere, the casualties continue, if not physically then emotionally or economically.

  4. I love the re-enactments but the real scenario was not a pretty site to be sure. Glad you wrote a 55 my friend

  5. Some people still hold on to more than grudges, though. I'm a Georgia girl who moved to the West Coast to flee from so much racism...but, you know, it is here too, against other ethnicities. Making changes begin from within.

    Great 55.

  8. A tense step back into time!
I agree with Steveroni; the line "Next to laughter" really stands out.
    Nice job.

Mine's been posted here since last night, but it's taken me this long to visit and leave comments. Sorry about that.
