i rest my head on yellow river
string two hearts apart
denied of pleasure i seek trees
their branches brown and dark
i fall as water on the stone
make my heart a bed of rock
tethered sun melts all thought
and need of mercies made
grass to branch
stone to moss, river to a rivers edge
to rest my head on yellow river
i string two hearts apart

Grace from D'verse ~
I'm feeling a tragic parting here with those separate hearts and "I fall as water on the stone, make my heart a bed of rock"...sounds desolate and lonely.
ReplyDeleteGayle ~
sounds like a broken heart
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and tenderly written ❤️
ReplyDeleteSeems plaintive and lonely.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of hearts apart sounds like it's hard to mend.
ReplyDeleteLovely the sensibility of this and your voice is fresh and inventive too - "tethered sun melts all thought
ReplyDeleteand need of mercies made..." I especially liked this
Still beautiful on the second reading !
ReplyDeleteI can sense the loneliness of the separated hearts that need a place to sleep for the night but not together.
ReplyDeleteahhh god...its hurts. they say the heart grows fonder...but bitterness must be kept at bay. the old enemy
