other than white

in the ginger
of morning
i catch snow on my tongue
taste the stillness
of light at the edge of a wood

as winter takes breath
to cradle life in a blanket held white
held white and wide
in the course of my sight

it, natures communion
takes precedent over warm and constant
and that which i receive
lips can hardly reveal

not in word
not in tongue
spoken or scribed, nor

in earthly creation
other than white

  1. I love this, especially as we received a pristine snowfall overnight and the world outside is created anew and beautiful.

  2. I agree so much with this... The landscape now covered in snow I can see nothing but white... (and the silence)

  3. "ginger of morning" is such a great line and it's great to see new writes from you (quite a few since I last checked in - shall be back to have a look through)

  5. This is so pure and restorative - a beautifully rendered piece. That first stanza floated clear off the page and the others followed. Just lovely!

These lines touched me the most! Exquisitely penned!

  7. It just so happens I am drinking ginger tea as I read your poem, so the opening lines coincide with the taste in my mouth... quite an added level to a reading experience.

  8. The ginger is warm.. And in some ways the communion of snow feels warm too..as if taking the world as it is - for better or worse.. And most magnificently
