threads

let's pull off thread
and hold peace
with a god

focus appears
meaningless in the moment

as Hawk takes rest
coats his eye; once,thrice
he understands
the world turns to his left

he moves right, moves
forward
hunger not present
he notes the wind, the
shift of branch

"rise above" - is all he knows

the weather clears, and
i resume to nest

  1. Even the hawk knows that he must 'rise above' in order to survive! Enjoyed your fourth stanza - I could really picture this hawk.

  2. Two threads of time intertwining - a wonderful moment and sense of who is watching who - and i agree 'rise above' is a good philosophy as well as nesting when we can

  4. So hawk like, an eternal observer, still rise above... a presence I could feel (and fear)

  5. I loved soaring with Hawk. A wonderful book for bird lovers is H is for Hawk, the training of a goshawk as the narrator mourns the death of a parent.....truly wonderful.

  6. Such an enjoyable read, a piece that captures the heights of thermals carrying the outspread wings of the hawk.

  8. Fascinating. I was taking it all literally until the last line, then that made me wonder...
