a chair

i see a
window from where i stand
an empty chair, its
silent stare
a wall that peels in words
of white
lost to desired days

i feel the framework
of a life
designed and milled
its tapestry, and
cross a
page of pardoned
grace
that lingers fair
towards
a night

and who?  would
share this
place with me, a chair
a room
of memory
and who?  would
hasten to
deny a lot
made in terms of yesterday

i see the window open wide
its winter's haze
turned within
and waltz in eggshell
pasted hues
in promise
of a giving spring

  1. the strongest part of this for me is the longing or want of someone to share the room with...perhaps come spring...smiles.

  7. The window open wide seems to invite another into this room with an empty chair. Hopefully this will happen soon.

  8. I suppose emptiness is only filled by reaching out
I liked the metaphor of spring in this poem.

  9. The line "a wall that peels in words" was a beautifully enigmatic image and I very much enjoyed this read.

  11. Our age -- this medium -- is visual. The alchemy you work is to lamp those drab exteriors with a bright inside -- harrowing and hallowing the image. It's thankless work but there's a terrible cost to soul if it's neglected. The strength of this poem is that the lead image is just a footnote.

  18. A promise that hopefully comes true when the crummy winter is through

  19. The melancholy as you gaze out to the winter's haze from the your empty chair is palapable ~ My favorite part is the use of eggshell in the ending:

    waltz in eggshell
    pasted hues
    in promise
    of a giving spring

  20. This created a sad feeling in me. i saw the loneliness and yearning, but also the openness and the hope. It's a beautiful poem.

  21. Loneliness is very tangible in your poem, yet the open door suggests things might change.

  23. "and who? would
    share this
    place with me, a chair
    a room
    of memory"

Nicely composed, both image and words evoke a sense of time marching on, age, change, longing. I find as I get older, the same questions surface ever more frequently in my own thoughts.

  26. well..this certainly brings a nostalgic feel to me..of the desperate..ways of indoor life..

well..as i might not look like it..if ya were to visit my words..and photos..

But there was no choice for me but almost complete shut-in for over 60 months...

I hate indoors..this computer is only a window to souls for me...

Otherwise..the indoors would now..never be a place for me to longer visit..

Thanks for inspiring that memory for me..through your words here..friend...

    And happy New Year 2ya2!
