the sun
does not discriminate
between sharp
or round, between
sizing long or sorrow, deliberate
eyes can core
heart to stone,
tears to rain..
yet solemn the sun blesses
warmth
of skin, blessed touch of
nourishment, yellows, orange
reds
ripen fruits know
their village, know a heaven
hungry for
life - in the face
of an un-discriminate
god

the sun does not discriminate in who it touchs and knows no bias...that is for sure...and in that i think we can find a bit of hope...
ReplyDeleteYes there is always beauty and hope to be found...bkm
DeleteThe sun can do only so much. What is left to be done is for us to do it. It is where the sun's light
ReplyDeleteis best shone.
Yours is an evocative piece. Illuminating.
Cheers!
Thank you Jeff .. Much is up to each of us...bkm
Deletelove the sensual use of language in this one!
ReplyDeleteLovely thoughts...beautiful write...rich like Gauguin's colors...
ReplyDeleteThank you Tess. Love the rich colors and subject of this painting...bkm
DeleteWithout the sun nothing would ripen, would it? I agree with Tess, your prose is rich like the artists colours.
ReplyDeleteThank you for you words and love of all things rich and vibrant...bkm
DeleteThe sun does not discriminate... very evocative words, those. That egalitarian goddess (because I usually think of the sun as feminine)creates, nurtures, and kills without regard to favoritism or prejudice. I guess we provide enough of that ourselves.
ReplyDeleteAs a goddess this sun just gives and gives knowing when to shine and when to hide her face ...bkm
Deletethey are hungry for life, but certainly not hungry for food
ReplyDeletequick heat quick art
This write is glorious like the sun itself Bkm....beautiful!! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Carrie it is always nice to hear from you. Blessings always in your life...bkm
DeleteOverall, I find this to be very bright!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully put. We emulate the power of the sun, but the kindness, not so much.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem - very stately in its descriptions, with its own solemnity. k.
ReplyDeleteYet solemn the sun ,,, such a strong and beautiful stanza, the heart of the piece for me. Your my favorite poet, sigh, you write so beautifully. Always an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you Henry your words always so gracious ...I do hold you dear...bkm
DeleteThis has a wonderful mysterious quality to it, much like the phenomenon you describe: the way things happen outside our purview or awareness, by forces seen, half unserstood, perhaps seen or unseen. These qualities make the poem enjoyable each time it's read to understand how the parts fit together. There is a level of abtraction in the poem, but it suits the subject very well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Charles for you kind comments..glad you enjoyed it..bkm
DeleteWhat a fabulous first line! It led so smoothly into the rest of the poem and let me slide along its rays.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth ...your words always a blessing...bkm
DeleteWell said in the name of the Son.
ReplyDeleteMy Friend thank you for your words...all nourishment and warmth come from our life giving Creator ...may we always honor him..bkm
DeleteThe sort of poem that can lead us to dance in different directions... The orange reds, the "reds" leaps out at you and the " ripen fruits know their village" will stay with me for a long time" your light is indiscriminate , long may it shine
ReplyDeleteBrian many thanks your words and comments mean much..I love you poetry and pleased you enjoyed this one..bkm
