for Miss Meggie

Let us gather words
spin them into sorrow
weave them into weeping.

Let us use all the colors
of the earth; dye them into cloth
reflective  of a life lived full, free,

freer now to dance
in the tapesty
of the wind, breathing
in the eternal

This is for my Meggie - my 13 year old Border Collie - who has left us this day July 15th, 2011
Border Collies have always been my Heros and Heroines - there is nothing like them for spirit and drive.

I Love you Miss Meggie

  9. We had our 14-year-old spaniel put to sleep last October. I still can hear him click-clacking across the kitchen floor.

  10. Sorry for your loss... it is indeed a joyful, yet sad day when they can be free forever to run and play. My thoughts are with you as you go through this time.

  12. i'm so sorry for your loss. i lost my cat who'd been part of my family for 17 years and the veterinarian sent me a card with this in it. Even if your beliefs are different, I hope the promise of reunion will bring you some comfort ~

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge...
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

  14. yes, let us, BKM. Simply let us gather words. I am so sorry for the loss of your border collie. I know that the losses of one's animal companions is not unlike the loss of one's human companions. They ARE family. I truly believe we will see them again.

  15. A LOVELY post (above) by 'Haikulovesongs'!!!

All I know about the afterlife is that there IS one. And also, that my Tina, Tabitha of Burnham Woods IV, and Lassie will all be there.

Then I realize I know nothing except that God is in charge, and HE will put everything in hugely satisfying order--for eternity!

A "special" PEACE for you, bkm!

  16. Oh Barbara, I am so sorry. Miss Meggie was such a beautiful girl. How you will miss her. The comment about Rainbow Bridge has me in tears, of course, still missing my wolf-Pup so much. I love to think of them running free, and coming to meet us one day. That is what heaven would truly be for me. You have written the most beautiful poem for your girl. Take good care.

  17. I'd rather weave the words into joy and laughter, but somehow they are most powerful in pain and sorrow. I hate that.
