Dying to Bee

there is something yellow
flying upside down,  a chaotic mess
that does not swim or swam; wormed
wings prevent escape
from a room that buzzes
bright with wood and window

there is blue beyond
a window,
green within a bowl
and i flying down in circular motion
 toward a way, a
hole in the wall to small
to remember, to late to recall
there is something black
melting, i feel nothing at all

sweet in blossoms
that sit near the bed, can mean anything
but nothing said regarding the
incident that sent me through
like a dream heading down
culling in red, pulling in brown
lighting a way, white as a lily
dead as the day...

  2. So beautiful, I could feel the journey downward, spiraling to the abyss. Beautiful lit with color and thought as we descended~ Well Done

  3. Exquisite! Poetical thoughts captured in the butterfly net of words and written down with the lightest, skilled touch.

  6. Pretty awful. I mean, if dread had butterfly wings, they'd be dappled like this. Hope the feeling took flight with the poem. - Brendan

  7. thanks everyone...this was a strange one...I think it came from spending so much time at doctors offices and the hospital over the past month that all the things seen had to come out somewhere...in the dying of a single bee....bkm

  12. A true poet can take a simple thing like a bee, and turn it into such amazing thoughts...this is beautiful Bkm! :-)

  14. I've had insects on the brain lately too bkm--this is ominous, drowsy with menace and a waiting that hides dark shadows, a hole that isn't escape. Excellent writing and capture of a mood.

  15. "like a dream heading down/ culling in red": quite an image. Swirls of color and motions create their own sensation in this poem, which is so deliberately end-stopped with "dead as the day".

  20. Lovely with just the right amount of sorrow. You've captured how we lose our egos and simply become (come into being) in the fall, in the dying. Just an amazing poem. Thanks!

  22. There is something so melancholy and inevitable about this. The one word that riveted my attention was "incident." That word is so heavy, filled with... well, I'm not sure, but it's nothing good.

  23. The juxtaposition between color and tone is amazing

  25. I'm here! I'm here!

(And YOUR sidebar button will be second-next.)

but as to this poem... it reminds me of a line of lyric from Joni Mitchell, I think from her "Hissing Of Summer Lawns" album, about smoke disappearing through a keyhole. Or some feeling like that.

this is a WOW to read. thank you.
