offerings....

i offered you a leather box of worship
you wanted wood, yet
you provided me a free pass to your bed
for a night - which i gladly accepted
long, you said evening prayers
and danced through the dark with some woman in a robe of white

leaving me no choice
but to take my black lace
to the cleaners - feeling dirty for knowing your generosity
and lack of phallic symbols
pulled my car into the nearest pit stop, able to go thirty-five laps
circling a lost choir of angels
without taking tires or fuel

a religious experience screaming
of consummate
magnitude....

  1. WOW Barbara...
No wonder... Religious influence makes us get on in life with a few too many burdens... and thus sex - especially sex-becomes a lot of stuff except what it is supposed to be (?)... while we forget the pleasure...
hummm- my risk to comment first!
    Hugs!

  2. Dulce...risk is a large part of living....a car race always starts with a prayer...but its ends with a checkered flag...bkm

  3. Wow, too! A "big" piece of writing! Something very special here. Sometimes we aren't able to see the treasure offered in the leather box. I am thinking we are judged by how much we loved, not by how much we were loved....and you will be remembered for your open heart....not some dried up bitter weed.

  4. thanks annell...sometimes a sexual experience can be found outside of a bed....and to limit it as such will provide only disappointment....bkm

  6. Love the pit stop and the laps "circling a lost choir of angels without taking tires or fuel". Wow, bkm........you are saying a lot more than I can grasp here, but am just impressed all to pieces by how it reads.

  8. Another WOW! You are as good a poet as, as...as, oh well, as the best of them!

The first risk in life is being born--I mean, what are the chances?

Any love I have to give now, is away from the bed--well, at least not necessarily IN it--grin...BUT! I have much, much love to give. Love is not--to me--siting back here and saying "Oh my pet, I love you so much, etc., etc." Love is an ACTION word, a giving, giving, giving, with no ulterior motive.

I believe I got off the topic. Sorry!
