May will bring the Cherry,
June its apricot,
July
will bring the sweetest peach
and you
the sea knows its place
at a set dinner table, so too
the apricot, the cherry
not so the summer wind, or
you;
rummed peaches float
in cream and sweat, spouting tales
of a surfaced Poseidon, seeking
tranquil shores, and
seasons new fruit...

ah, I love a peach. I really love a peach. California peaches are my favorite. Once I wrote a 3 page poem about them - I'd post it but it's old and probably sucks. Anyway - I love this one and like the months confined neatly to the three.
ReplyDeleteThe sweetest peach and you..the most seductive fruit! This one just flows...
ReplyDeleteMmmm...peaches..."the sea knows its place/not so the summer wind" Rich.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone...and Jhon..you are right there are nothing as wonderful as California fresh peaches...they grow them right here, right now the almond orchards are in full bloom and with that the fruit will begin to follow...until November and everything has finally been harvested....I think, I know that is one of the reasons I have never moved from here...bkm
