Crimson Pause

at the edge of crimson
where burnt melds orange to red
along an avenue of giants, fed by spring
stayed now in state, the blackening of forest
while winter white grace laden, awaits
it is the waning of November, final pause of an autumn's light
that leaves but dream of you - crystal, a place, of
suspended sleep, and I do praying long - for
an immortals melt foreseen
a tempered moment, awakening moss green -  streams
flowing where once I fell so deep...into promise, its love,
its mortal blind need of this...blissful
consummation, vital, its arousal of all (once)
 crimson and you - its,
your life giving
 kiss...

  1. That is really lovely. I was just driving down my street today and I noticed the sugar maples and pear trees holding out, their crown of flaming glory. It might reach freezing tonight and I fear winter is just a few days away. This winter I will write, read, sleep and dream of all that your lovely verses suggest.

  3. Complex and contrasted, layered with images, reading this was almost like having that dream in my own head. I truly enjoy your craft--'the blackening of forest..' paints the starkness of the nude branches, 'while winter white grace laden' will cover them and transform them...just a magical image.

  5. Poem of many colors, I dream of you, too. I am in Texas now, and the colors still linger, before colorlessness enfolds the landscape, and all will be seen is the sky in royal Texas blue.

Beautiful poem, my pleasure to be sure.

  10. So delightfully complex despite its relative simplicity. Calls up all the images of winter ... the dreamscape of winter ... just lovely. There's always a special grace about your work. Thank you for sharing this. Good Magpie.

  22. bkm:

I love seeing that header of yours, it sets the tone for the poetry to come,, often warm intimate, sensual and gracious, this poem has many layers hidden within each element, the earthly element, the spiritual, and the layers of the human consciousness from wakefulness to sleep and interconnection between them all.

Thanks for the comment and have a lovely Thanksgiving as well.
