Clocktime and burnt candles
measure our affair
I prefer sundials and beeswax
you pillars of aromatherapy-
masking digital interests
Bees fill the garden-
the sun methodically kisses the dial-
scents linger;
It’s all borrowed time

My heart landed in your
martini on the rocks
right as you screamed,
“I said blended”
dropping
the glass to the floor
shattered
my heart beats slow
wedged between
two cubes
I felt myself
slipping away
pleaing
as you
sliced your
olive

I am dazzled by these two poems! I think they are the best you have written. Love them both!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Diane. These are amazement personified. I so love the heart landing in the martini, and being edged between two ice cubes. This sort of thing is why I embraced solitude, hee hee! Wonderful writing!
ReplyDeleteI will second what Diane T and Sherry have said. Your writing amazes me, and the last stanza of the second poem takes my breath away..
