the side effects of blue

the side effects of blue
mimic bloomberg and coffee, as a radio
tosses satellite notes ( folgers classic)
i long for a sunburnt room
maraschinos cherries floating
a seaform tumbler and
sand in wet places - yes, a desert
in heat

i never thought
of you as a rain drop, i have
never seen you as grey - my
thinking is river, its delta under a summer spell
grey holds
undercurrents of drama without release, without
resolve - i prefer life bared
wide open
under the side effects of
blue

  1. It's funny the things that remind us other people...and how beautifully you express them.

I wrote of blue not too long ago..

  3. Blues happens--my favorite color of ALL! Most everything I wear is a hue of blue.

In this exquisite poem, I found the word undercurrents might relate to most lines. Even as I relived swimming the Ohio River, was aware always of currents under, sometimes opposite to those visible at surface...a memory. Thank You, Barbara!

  5. Ahhh, sun burnt room under desert blue sky, grey dramas bared in heat. Your writing just takes me away.
