the fullness of new

i have decomposed
and dissected the day
all that had been drawn together
was now put to bed - a set window
remains open
draping non-movement

who? could be that thought
that runs through the room - i so
love the sipping of
remembrance

a clock strikes - shadow
comes to attention and an elder cat
comments contempt
he knows the meaning of structure
refusing acceptance of theory

i love thought, the
tapping of images to word, i
love remembering
the rain
of mornings to come, and
the fullness of new

  4. Such adventurous juxtapositions, and the back - to - front time. Very refreshing.
BTW, I never realized that William Blake looks so modern.

  11. "i so love the sipping of remembrance" - this phrase, one of the most inventive in the poem, is for me what anchors everything, a subtle answer to the questions that hang over the tableau.

  13. The meditation is happy with its custom of waxing and ebbing, moving freely about, associating, gathering, letting go: like breath, or the way an "elder cat" commands so much curled serenely in a dark, opened window. It's all been said, yet it's ever new. Keeps me writing, too. Sweet. - Brendan

  15. And I love this, a perfect way to end the day, on a note of remembrance.

    And I really love this:
"an elder cat/comments contempt/he knows the meaning of structure/refusing acceptance of theory"

    Oh, yes. Cats know things.

  16. Exquisite in the way you shape vagueness, give form to shadow, stop time, capture the future, deconstruct the present. Deft writing, unbelievably difficult task achieved with brilliance!

  17. I love remembering the rain of mornings to come. Excellent line. Reminded me of a lyric. I remember the rain on the roof that morning. Sometimes the present creates hope of many like days, so that we can imagine days when we will be older and reflect back on the comfort the rain on the roof created that morning, or in your case, just the freshness of the rain. After a long day, or period of trial, something comes that signals change, maybe the freshness of the morning rain. And it births hope. My take anyway. Lovely poem. presented very creatively. Great lines, word choices, and depth. You always write with such depth. Thank you!
