parchment

do not cover the woods
like that, (I mean in paper) - parchment
comes soon enough; let life's
echo reprise in fern
and scarlet bird -  still allow fresh the water its
cavoting of a vixen's den; its
course of shallow hollow

I can quill to stone,
do not cover the forest
with paper...print it to your
heart...

  2. "...allow fresh the water its
cavorting of a vixen's den; its
    course of shallow hollow..."

Who but the TRUE POET might conjure such image with neither brush nor string-and-bow? Inspiring!
    THANK you!

No, no parchment, nor paper either. Only the heart. Which has taken this in. Thank you for sharing this piece.

these words - their peace and beauty - will be with me as I head out this morning, as I walk the path to the lake.

  14. bkm,
Trees are among my best of friends; to be enjoyed with eyes, nose, and fingers rather than words.
    I love that peeping fox!

  15. Your lines did not give up all their depth and beauty straight away, but went on working after I thought I had switched off.

  17. Lovely poem, bkm, with some telling images of nature that just breathe life. It would indeed be a shame to put them under any kind of cover.
