Plain Truth

there seems to be a global market
for plain truth, but
plain truth
is never really plain, is it?

as a slice of white bread
is not purely  white, and biting into it
the inconsistent consistency's of crust -
to filling, give its flaws away...questioning the need of
tooth pick or thumbnail - truth is - as I see it (of course)
the most uncertain certainty thought up
by the mind of man -  as I can measure it within self
and read, and listen, and take note
of  today's truth I must then accept or reject
what is presented against what I have the capacity
to understand - spread its sweet or bitter on one slice
of bread - some crunching peanut butter on the
other - give it a good patting together for
good measure - and bite right into its wisdom and its nuts
knowing that digesting any truth, plain
 or otherwise is not easy,
- without a good cup of strong coffee ...

Papilionoidea

i saw a girl walk by, odd
she was using lightning rods for curlers
they seemed to give her direction
like antennas on a papilionoidea
while sparks shot out, up
from the tips
of her silver toed boots, shooting
stars they were
that

required a different, solitary kind of attention
one with her name on it -
pink bows, black gloves kind of name
fame was her motive, her action, walking
with reaction in mind, time
and timing (wristwatch ring,
ringing "hello") holding
her wings even keel
their eyes
sat asymmetrical, metrically off
one focused forward
one focused behind, blind too plus
everyone else could see - she
was going to be somebody someday - maybe
later today - she
floated down the wet gray walk
of a city dripping morning news - lightning flashed!

dashed she did
heading straight for the alley
i ran after her
just as she caught a ride on the back
of an alley cat with two left feet and a crooked tail
he scampered  up the escape ladder
to the top floor - she yelled out  "I want to
learn to fly - before I head off to
to beauty college"...

just reward...

there is blood in the saddle that I took up to ride
and the shale that cuts the cord
I can no longer hide, between the sheets and
the wind that pulls the heart towards hell
and I'll sip with you one bottle, while
the beat of belly swells, you say, " muster up
the courage," spoken by some unnamed saint;
contrition for the devil, is that accepted by your
god?  that bears me take another
mouth with no words for food
or symbol of a morrow, which to light its face
only grace given for repentance as shale cuts
the cord, calling it deliverance
and my just reward.......

half empty

glass scratched blue
breaks the silence of
unread lines on a blank page.....
my mind turns a corner....
and there is the road I was
looking for....I have no idea
where it will take me...
do I care? I ask Myself.   unable to get
a straight answer I go on alone..
leaving you standing holding
glass half empty..
